SPUTNIK V

Why Russia's Vaccine Diplomacy Failed

ANIMATION

Sketch was commissioned by US think tank Carnegie Endowment for International Peace to produce an animation about the Russian Covid Vaccine. The objective was to get people up to speed on the development and distribution of Sputnik V, the COVID 19 vaccine developed in Russia very early on in the pandemic.

When Russia unveiled its homegrown Sputnik V vaccine, there was hope throughout the developing world for a safe, effective, and inexpensive vaccine that could possibly close the gap between wealthy and poorer countries. However, the Kremlin's plan to secure international influence through its vaccine diplomacy ultimately fell short. Here's everything you need to know about what went wrong with Sputnik V's rollout.

We made a great decision by choosing Sketch to animate our video script. The finished products were beyond our expectations and on budget.
